10 weeks to go until we find out if we are having a boy or a girl!
10 weeks to go until Millie can meet her little sibling!
10 weeks to go until I get to experience labour again!
Speaking of labour, I was talking to my gorgeous friend Jen (go and follow her on Instagram if you aren’t already – @mamalionstrong – she is amazing), and I was discussing my fears and doubts about how I will go with managing my labour this time round. Then she sent me this and it changed my world:
I felt completely out of control during my labour with Millie and I am going to do everything in my power to make sure that doesn’t happen again. I am going to trust my body and trust myself. Speaking of which, I am going to start practicing some hypnobirthing methods to help me along this time round.
Woahhhhh…..Getting a bit side tracked there. Let’s get back to my 30 week pregnancy update!
About my baby
Lil munchkin is measuring in at 3.1lbs and is about 17 inches long. Think along the lines of a butternut squash. I have noticed that bub is getting the hiccups now and they are extremely noticeable (especially at 2am). This clever little darling is also regulating it’s own body temperature, stacking on the weight and growing a nice big healthy brain!
I feel like I am literally growing every single day. Some days my belly feels bigger than others but bub is growing perfectly and that is all that matters! I have been enjoying using the Mother’s Blend Body Oil and I slather it on my belly morning and night. It is AMAZING. Takes 5 minutes or so to soak in but my skin feels so nourished and hydrated and I love that there are only 4 ingredients in this product. No nasties, no silicones…. just pure oil.
I have been getting a fair bit of pain in my sacroiliac joint (SI joint). It isn’t pleasant. I am experiencing short, sharp, nerve-pinching twinges that send jolts of pain down my left leg. Lovely huh? I believe SI joint pain is also known as pelvic girdle pain and as my physio has mentioned to me, it’s a very common symptom of pregnancy (especially in the last month or two) as my body is producing a hormone called “relaxin” which is softening ligaments in my pelvis and other joints. This is a good thing though as having these soft ligaments will help bub pass through my pelvis during child birth. I am *trying* to take it easy and do exercises that help relieve the pain. I experienced it with Millie as well so it’s a very familiar pain to me.
My husband has been AMAZING with helping out with Millie and general household stuff. He constantly watching over me to make sure I am not overdoing it (I fail at this) and make sure I am eating, drinking and getting plenty of rest. Bless his cotton socks.
Pregnancy dreams. Can they get any weirder? Every night I am having some kind of CRAZY dream which leave me laying awake in bed at 3 or 4am trying to figure out if it was real or night. I have fought terrorists, ran away from murderers, given birth to a baby girl – just to mention a few. One night, I even woke up hysterically crying but I won’t even go into detail about that dream because just writing this sentence is making me cry.
At my last Doctor’s checkup I got my results of my Glucose Tolerance Test (which I passed) but my doctor did mention that my iron levels were low and I need to add a supplement to my diet. Oh! We are officially down to fortnightly visits with my Doctor too and my heart gets SO excited to see bub every two weeks on the little screen.
Not much has changed here. Give me cold fruit – of any kind – and I am happy. And cold milk. With ice cubes please. My meal portions are definitely much, much smaller – and I find myself eating at regular intervals during the day!
Weight Gain and exercise
I believe I am at around the 6kg mark for weight gain. I am not weighing myself each week – I am just focusing on eating a (pretty) balanced diet, drinking loads of water and staying active. Pilates has taken a back seat lately – life has just been so hectic but I plan on getting back into my classes next week. Plus, Millie seems to keep me on my toes for most of the day! I find myself collapsing in a big heap when 7pm rolls around!
So, that should wrap up my pregnancy update for week 30! I am about to make a phone call to the hospital to book in for my pre-admission appointment… it’s getting real now! SO much fun!
Love Melanie xo
