A video has been doing the rounds recently in the media about the reactions of people (young and old) looking at their skin in ultraviolet light. Amazingly, it shows up the areas on the face where the sun’s UV rays have been absorbed into the skin by leaving black and grey smears on the skin, but to the naked eye, the skin looks perfectly healthy and even. It’s safe to say that these people who witnessed how their skin looks in ultraviolet light will be investing in and applying a high SPF sunscreen on a daily basis!
Here it is for those who haven’t seen it:
This video inspired me to share my top 5 sunscreens that I have tried and tested and absolutely LOVE! I wear a sunscreen every single day – regardless if I am planning to spend time in the sunshine and regardless of what season it is. The Australian sun is harsh and wearing a sunscreen every day not only protects my skin from sun damage (which leads to skin cancer), it is quite possibly the best anti-aging product out there! Say no to premature wrinkles!
1. Ultraceuticals UV Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF 30+ Hydrating
This little beauty is my absolute FAVOURITE. Not only does this protect your skin from the sun, it also hydrates and nourishes your skin which means two products in one! Ultraceuticals have recently released a “mattifying” version of this sunscreen so I a definitely trying out that formula this Summer!
2. Dermalogica Solar Defence Booster SPF50+
This product is amazing if you have a favourite moisturiser or foundation with no SPF! Just mix it in and apply as usual.
3. O Cosmedics Mineral Pro SPF30+
The best thing about this sunscreen is that is dries instantly, doesn’t leave your skin feeling sticky and it doesn’t have that “sunscreen” smell! Its delicious.
4. Antipodes Immortal SPF15
This is great for the face and body! I find myself reaching for this if I am just planning a day indoors, with minimal sun exposure. Again, this product doesn’t feel thick at all and absorbs beautifully.
5. Clinique Super City Block Ultra Protection SPF 40
This sunscreen doubles up as the perfect primer to wear under your favourite foundation! Love!
What are your favourite sunscreens to wear? I would love to know!
