Hello! Thank you so much for dropping by. I won’t carry on about whyyyyy it’s been so long since I have blogged (ok, I’ve been lazy) but here I am!
If you follow me on Instagram, you will know that Justin and I are expecting another baby!! We are beyond excited to bring another life into this world, and even more excited to give Millie a little brother or sister!
When I was pregnant with Millie, I regret not writing a journal – you know, detailing bits and pieces of how I was feeling as my pregnancy progressed. So this time round, I am going to be doing a once-a-week (or fortnight) update using a pretty generic list of questions I found on a blog I follow. This is more for me to look back on but I am also so happy to share this journey with anyone who wants to read!
So lets get into it…
What fruit are you? My baby is the size of a lemon, measuring about 8.5cm long.
Due date: 13 January 2015.
How far along: 14 weeks today.
Gender: We are going to wait until lil bub is born to find out the gender. I have moments where I want to find out but we will be stoked with either a little girl or boy!
Total weight gain/loss: Not too sure! I lost around 4kg during the first trimester due to lack of appetite and nausea and I don’t intend to track my weight too closely during this pregnancy. I am happy to have my weight checked at my monthly doctor’s check up. I eat a healthy, balanced diet (plus the odd bowl of ice-cream or block of chocolate) and I can generally sense how I am feeling by how my clothes fit!
Exercise: To be honest I have been quite slack in the exercise department. Running after a toddler seems to be enough for me right now but I do want to continue with a strength and light cardio program. I am aiming to do 3-4 workouts per week! Pregnancy Exercise have an incredible prenatal exercise program which I intend on following for the duration of my pregnancy.
Stretch marks: Not yet. I am religiously coating my belly in a rich moisturiser and bio oil twice a day.
Maternity clothes: Still wearing all of my normal, every day clothes. I think that will change in the next couple of weeks though!
Belly button: Normal at the moment.
Sleep: I am usually getting a solid 7-8 hours of sleep per night, however, Millie has had a couple of unsettled nights of waking 2-3 times but quickly going back to sleep. I occaisonally have a sneaky nap when she is down for her midday siesta. Oh, I tell a lie. I am up every 2-3 hours to pee but will easily go straight back to sleep 🙂
Food cravings: Cold pineapple.
Symptoms: Sore/massive boobs. I swear my boobs have doubled in size in the last 3 weeks. It’s so uncomfortable, but my husband assures me that it’s a really good thing…..Oh and I had a nasty eczema flare up too. I only get eczema when I am pregnant – has to be the hormones right? The flare up was only limited to my elbows and I was so tempted to scratch my skin with a cheese grater!
Movement: Not yet – but it’s something I can not wait for! Ahhh! Best part about being pregnant, hands down!
What I miss: Not a great deal to be honest. Some days I want to sit down and eat a plate full of cured meats and soft cheeses, but right now, I am happy with my cold pineapple.
What I’m loving: Watching my belly pop just a little bit more each week. And did I mention cold pineapple?
What I’m looking forward to: Home made pizzas for dinner tonight!
Best moment this week: Getting excellent results from our 13 week scan. Seeing our babies heartbeat is the best thing in this world.
Words of wisdom: Fresh out of wisdom this week. Hopefully I’ll be smarter next update!
Thanks for reading!
Love Melanie xo
